Profile: Ali Liebegott is an American writer, comedian and actor. She completed her MFA in Creative Writing at Sarah Lawrence College. Some of her most notable works include The IHOP Papers, The Beautifully Worthless, Cha-Ching! She presently resides in Los Angeles.

Recently she has completed, The Summer of Dead Birds, her fourth book. She is known well for the work as a producer/writer and novelist on the acclaimed Amazon original series, Transparent. She has taught creative writing at Mills College and University of California, San Diego.

She has been the managing director in a nonprofit organization, RADAR Productions in San Francisco, whose mission is to ‘give voice to creative outside artists, writers and queers whose work reflects the diverse experiences of the LGBTQA in the most authentic way. THE RADAR LAB, an annual retreat was organized for queer artists by RADAR Productions in Akumal in Mexico which was founded and managed by Ali Liebegott. A long relationship has been maintained by Liebegott with zine making and small press publishing. In the capacity of founding editor at Writers Among Aritsts, which has published two poetry and art anthologies: Faggot Dinosaur and Vincent Van Go – Gogh.

The Beautifully Worthless (2005) is her first book, a hybrid work of prose pieces, lists, letters and poems that form a narrative. She along with Michelle Tea, her longtime gal pal, travelled and explored extensively in the United States and also toured on Sister Spit’s Ramblin Road Show which provided her with context to explore experiences of people living outside socially accepted norms from a person from perspectives beyond that of straight male privilege.
