Background: Joan Wickersham was born in 1957 in New York City, United States.  She graduated with an Art History degree from Yale. She presently resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She has taught at the Bennington Writing Seminars, the University of Massachusetts and Harvard Emerson.
