Background: Victoria Redel was born on 9th April 1959 in New York City, New York, United States. She is 61 years old. Irving Redel and Natalie Soltanitzky are her parents. Born into a Jewish family of Egyptian, Romanian and Belgian-Polish descent, Redel is a first generation American.  Natalie Soltanitzky, her mother is a noted Director and teacher of the Ballet Guild School of Westchester. Her mother born in Romania, spent 2 years in Paris under German Occupation and came in1942 to New York. Irving Redel, Victoria’s father left Belgium in 1940. He and his parent were refused entry by Quanza ship into Mexico and United States. ‘The Border of Truth’ Victoria’s novel is based on the situation of the ship Quanza.

Victoria is the youngest of three sisters. She grew up in Scarsdale New York, is a graduate of Dartmouth College. She completed her education at Columbia University (1986), Scarsdale High School and Dartmouth College. Victoria has received an MFA in poetry from Columbia University.

Victoria Redel has taught at Vermont College and Columbia University and is presently on the faculty of Sarah Lawrence College. She has two sons and lives in New York City.

Loverboy her novel was adapted for a feature length film starring Kyra Sedgwick, Sandra Bullock, Matt Dillon, Kevin Bacon, Marisa Tomei and Oliver Platt. The novel was also a Los Angeles Best Book.
