Profile: Bhaskar Chattopadhyay is a successful Indian writer, scriptwriter, film critic and translator. He has had a successful career in the corporate sector as a management professional and statistician. Initially he was part of the high-paying corporate world. However he felt that connecting to a corporate life was stifling and soon realized that corporate job was not something he was cut out for. He bid adieu to the job after a decade and pursued his life-long dream of becoming a writer. He didn’t want to wear two hats and instead thought of making money through his passion of writing itself.

The anthology 14: Stories That Inspired Satyajit Ray is one of Bhaskar Chattopadhyay’s translations. He has translated the works of many Bengali Writers like Rabindranath Tagore, Narendra Nath Mitra, Rajshekhar Basu, Hasan Azizul Haque, Upendrakishore Ray Chowdhury, Tarashankar Bandyopadhyay, Prabhat Kumar Mukhopadhyay and Premendra Mitra. Nayak the legendary film in 1966 of Satyajit Ray has also been novelized by the Bhaskar Chattopadhyay. Presently he lives with Sweta his wife and two sons Emon and Ishaan in Bengaluru.

Writing style: Bhaskar Chattopadhyay has written more than a dozen books with a number of them being mystery thrillers. He does not use complex words to bombard the readers and instead uses a smooth style of writing thus making it easy for the readers to read and enjoy his books.

Besides penning books he also writes for columns and film reviews. He was highly influenced by movies and started writing about films be it columns, essays on films and reviews. This way he feels happy about combining his creativity with his passion for cinema and penning down books.
