Jack Kirby’s Fourth World Omnibus by Jack Kirby

Title: Jack Kirby’s Fourth World Omnibus

Author: Jack Kirby

Context: Jack Kirby’s Fourth World Omnibus is the fourth and final volume which collects remaining issues of the classic series of the 1970s, The New Gods, The Forever People, Mister Miracle and Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen, as they originally appeared in chronological order. He wrote and illustrated four interlocking series called collectively as The Fourth World.  As part of celebration of the hundredth birthday of Jack Kirby, the entire runs of the 4 series have been collected by DC Comics, into one single volume.

Synopsis: Right from the far-flung twin worlds of Apokolips and New Genesis to the streets of Metropolis, these 4 comics have spanned galaxies, as Darkseid the world conqueror ventures for the deadly Anti-Life Equation across the Earth while the cosmic-powered villains and heroes struggle for dominance.

There is good reason why Jack Kirby is called the King of Comics. Jack Kirby’s true masterwork is this one with four titles that resulted in New Gods, Mister Miracle, The Forever People and Jimmy Olsen, with a massive interlocking story presented in the most genuinely prophetic fashion. It is about a war between rival deities in which Darseid, with a granite-faced embodiment of evil is one of the evil half who so is raised by the forces of good in secret. The author has given birth to concepts and characters that have been essentially conserved the industry of comics after the hypercritical 1950’s.
