Profile: R.K. Narayan is one of the best Indian writers in English. His English short stories and novels are read with great interest by many of the common middle-class people of India even today. Any list of ‘Best Indian Authors’ definitely includes the name of this famous Indian author. Rasipuram Krishnaswami Iyer Narayanaswami was born on October 10, 1906 in the Madras Presidency and died on May 13, 2001 in Chennai). This Indian writer was commonly known as R.K. Narayan.  He was one of the most leading authors of early literature in English in India.

Writing style: R.K.Narayan is well known for his simple writing style, the way in which he juxtaposes reality with fiction. His writings implant deep and simple lessons very subtly in the reader’s mind. R.K. Narayan is popular for writing stories on Malgudi, a fictional town. A number of books have been written by the Indian author including, The English Teacher, Swami and Friends, A Tiger for Malgudi, The Guide, etc. Malgudi Days is his most sold and extremely popular book in his collection of short stories.
