Temperate Zone

Temperate Zone

Temperate Zone - Out of the five geographical zones of the earth, one is the temperate zone. This zone is located between either the Arctic Circle and the Tropic of Cancer or the Antarctic Circe and the Tropic of Capricorn. Regions falling in this zone experience, an average temperature of more than 10 degrees Fahrenheit anywhere between 4 to 8 months. Within these enormous zones there are a number of areas, where the required temperature is not met to suit in this zone due to which these regions are not considered as a part of such a zone though are within the latitudes.

The oceanic in this zone and the continental temperate zone are the main two classifications of the temperate zone. Within the continental temperate zone lies Eastern Europe which experiences very cold winter and at the same time very hot summers. In fact for major part of the year this region may not be very temperate. The average temperature is met in four months during the year.
In the Southern temperate zone there are no continental temperate zones since the land masses are not large enough to create the swings in temperature.

Temperate Zone

Not much of precipitation is received by regions falling in this zone. Regions falling in the oceanic temperate zone experience temperature drop at 32 degrees Fahrenheit (zero degrees Celsius) below freezing point even during the winter time. Severe storms and cyclones are also experienced in these regions causing massive destruction. No swings in temperature are seen in the oceanic temperate zone. Temperature remains temperate during summer at 21 degrees C and winter it doesn’t drop below 4 degrees C.
