Context: The Bridge on the Drina (1945) is a translated historical novel by Ivo Andrić, the Yugoslavian writer. The Bridge on the Drina is a remarkable novel proving to be a trusted guide to the history and people of Bosnia.

Synopsis: The story is rotates around the Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge in Višegrad, which stands as silent and spans the Drina River. Right from the late 16th century to the beginning of World War I, the people of Bosnia underwent a lot of suffering which is depicted vividly in the novel. Social change has been sensitively portrayed in distant Bosnia by the author.
