Profile: Advaita Kala is an Indian author and screenwriter. Advaita Kala completed her education at Welham Girls’ School. By profession, she is a hotelier. She has a knack of creating independent, courageous and strong female characters, be is Kiara from Anjaana-Anjaani or Vidya Bagchi.

She is a screenplay writer for films like Anjaana Anjaani (romantic drama – 2010) and Kahaani (thriller - 2012). Almost There! And Almost Single are the two novels, she has written besides writing for films. She is known well for writing about famous Bollywood female celebrities. Almost Single, is her debut novel, with an idea that originated as a result of some of the experiences surrounding her.

Advaita has been running Janta Rasoi, a community kitchen in Gurugam, during the COVID-19 outbreak in India. She started the kitchen from the time the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Mr.Narendra Modi announced the Janta Curfew. Poor people affected by the lockdown avail their food from her Janta Rasoi community kitchen. During the Coronavirus crisis, she aims to reach more and more poor people and the daily wagers.

She has written, Airplane, the television serial aired on Star Plus, apart from writing novels and films. Advaita is a regular writer for the hospitality column, Epicuriosity for the Financial Express. Besides this she has regular columns in Dainik Jagran (Hindi), the Financial Chronicle and also for the Dhaka Tribune.

Advaita Kala’s father is a former bureaucrat who worked for the Government of India while her sister is an advocate from the London School of Economics. She resides with her parents in Delhi, currently.
